At work they're making us really push the sport chalet visa cards and I absolutely loathe it. I hate credit cards in general and find the sport chalet one to be even more unnecessary, but it's not only that it's just that whenever I approach sometime and get the impression that I might be able to sell one, I feel like the devil has just popped up on my shoulder and is nudging me forward, just makes me hesitate that much more. It's a horrible feeling, but it's my job now apparently.
Regardless of which, the fact that I have to is making me approach customers that much more (sometimes warily, but still) and has actually lead to me having some quite interesting conversations. Last night an old guy came in, he was gray-haired and tall, wearing a floppy hat. After all the usual work "hi, how's it going? need any help with anything? are you interested in ...." bullshit he actually started just chatting about random stuff. He ended up telling me about how he prefers rollerblading over skiing (cheaper, less of a hassle, just as much fun if not more, just as much of an exercise) and how it'll give you "an ass that can crack a walnut." Then he started telling me about how once he put his car away for five years and rode his bike wherever and everywhere. I was really impressed! It got me thinking and truth be told it's something that has crossed my mind before and I would love to. So as soon as I get enough money I'm going to get myself a decent mountain bike, switch out the tires for the more appropriate street/city tires and just ride. and I'm excited.
my question now is, who wants to actually do shit with me this summer!?
